Studio Time

I've been in my studio working on table napkins for an art show in Vienna this summer. The deadline to send my work overseas is fast approaching but I'm almost finished.

I'm using muted colors in the napkins so I have hung magazine photographs on my studio walls to remind me of my color palette.

Sewing Supplies

I am currently storing all the sewing supplies that I'm using to make table napkins for an exhibition this summer in a vintage powder blue Skyway luggage. I can be scattered and disorganized at times but this organizational system is working so far for this particular project.

Paper Dolls

Lately I've been playing with paper dolls. Arranging them on the wall for my own amusement.

Or standing them up straight with paper supports and wall putty.

Mirrored Marigny House

A mirrored house sculpture is located in a vacant lot in the Marigny. It's not possible to get a close look as the lot is fenced in but even from a distance the house is striking.

Memories of FEMA

Renovations are still taking place all across New Orleans. Most home owners paint over the markings of rescue that FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams left behind. But a few houses that are fully renovated have left the symbol intact.

One home in the Marigny not only painted around the FEMA symbol in order to preserve it but reinforced its prominence with an iron replica attached to the house just above the painted symbol.

Evidently, someone has grown tired of George Rodrigue's blue dog paintings. This graffitied replica of his famous dog has been tagged in front of art galleries and museums around New Orleans.

Cresent City Farmers Market

On Saturday morning while walking through the Warehouse District of New Orleans I happened upon the Cresent City Farmers Market. A nice crowd perused the vendor booths as a chef demonstrated dishes made from local produce. I purchased some tomatoes, Louisiana honey, homemade salsa and pears.
